Caleb had a good first day of his 2nd cycle of chemo. He has had no side effects yet.
The chemo took 5 hours today. We literally shut down the place this evening. We were there past all the doctors. I think it was us and our RN that helps with infusions by the time we were done. He started the drip at 12:15 and was done around 5:25. Caleb arrived at the clinic at 9:30 am...that is a long day!
Today we learned that this treatment will be the same chemo meds but a little different time schedule. We originally thought that he would only have one day off so that Caleb would check back in to the hospital for his impatient treatment on Saturday morning. However, they have changed it based on when he can get his LP. So, we actually have two days off and he will not need to check back in until Sunday morning. With that, he will now be in the hospital until Friday morning instead of Thursday morning. So, everything is shifted one day.
Caleb will get re-examined two weeks after this round of chemo is finished. After they see the scans, they will determine what the rest of Caleb's treatment and protocol looks like. The doctor is still very optimistic and believes that Caleb will be cancer free when his treatment is done. She said he looks awesome and is doing really well. There will be hard days ahead, but we are doing what we need to do to beat this cancer and that is great news for two parents!
God has been so faithful! We sang two songs this morning in staff meeting (and I believe we are singing them Sunday morning) that really spoke to me. One is called Never Once and it has great words. I love how it doesn't say everything is going to work out but rather God is with us through everything we go through. I am extremely excited about worship on Sunday! It is going to be a great day!
I am also very excited about the Dance for Caner event this Saturday. Since Caleb doesn't have to check into the hospital, and the nurse said he was clear, he may get to attend part of it. All of this depends on how he does tomorrow and how he feels Saturday morning. So, we are hoping for a good couple day tomorrow. He would love to be a part of the event!
Thanks for all of your prayers today and all of the encouraging texts that Tera and myself received! It was a long day, but Caleb did great!
I will let you know tomorrow how he is doing. We are praying for no side effects and if he does have them that they would be minor. Whatever happens, we will have God's grace that journey's with us! We are not alone!
Have a great night!
Grace and Peace
