Back at the Hospital

So, this morning was great! Honestly, it was a little overwhelming...but a good overwhelming! The support that we feel and that I experienced this morning is amazing. We feel like we do not deserve it but we are truly grateful! Our church community hugged me and made sure I knew that they were behind me! God knew we needed to be here!

The service was great! Music was good and gave me an opportunity to let some emotion out in a good way! Saying words like, "be my everything, be my everything, be my everything" had a little different meaning for me personally this morning. I will talk about this in depth in another post some other time.

Caleb is doing great! He is still eating well and the doctors are very pleased with this. His levels still seem to be good. Tera was saying this morning was a little emotional for Caleb. We are praying for guidance and direction as we help him process what exactly is happening in his life on every level.

Here is what is on tap for this week as far as we know:
After the first round of chemo, once again his body is responding so well. The amount of treatment he got the first round was a reduced rate to see how his body would respond. Also, they knew that the chemo would kills the cancer cells quickly, at least the weak ones, and didn't want to over load him. This would have potentially be dangerous to other organs as when cancer cells are killed they release other toxins.

They are thinking that Wednesday they will do another full body scan to see exactly how the cancer responded. Then on Thursday, we will start our 2nd cycle of chemo. This cycle will be more intense as they will get more aggressive now on killing off his cancer. With that, once again, this will potentially offer several side effects. As we learn more about what they might be, we will keep you posted so that you will know how to pray.

That is about as much information as we have at this point. Keep praying for his body to respond, for good appetite, and for healing on all levels as an 8 year old boy deals with everything going on in his life.

Also, we may be having a hair cutting party soon, and offering all those that want to join, wherever you are, to do so. Then you could send pictures and we could enjoy being bald together. No one should feel pressure. Caleb doesn't want people to do it because they feel pressure. He just wants those who would like to participate to do so. Tera asked him if he wants her to do it...he said "no, that would be weird!" What a guy!

Grace and Peace!
