Initial report is exactly what we thought and were told. The chemo is doing what it i supposed to do...kill cancer! It was pretty amazing this afternoon as Tera and I looked at a before and after picture with the pet scan from last week and today. We saw how the cancer cells are melting away! We are celebrating this! I mean we are REALLY celebrating this. Tera gave our doctor the biggest hug ever after we were done! It seemed a bit awkward for him but she didn't seem to mind!
With that in mind, we are not out of the woods just yet. Although the report is that the 1st round of chemo killed a lot of the cancer, we are still in for a long journey. We killed the weak cells and now it is time to go after the tougher cells. This will be a bit of a process. Tera received our road map today and they are looking at a treatment that will last 6-9 months. We are looking at journeying through things that are scary and going places we really did not want or plan to go. Even though we are scared, we know we will not do it alone! I think the Psalm says,
Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,[a]
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
We continue to find comfort in the arms of a loving God. We continue to find comfort through his people at Crossroads Nazarene Church and Hope Christian Academy. We continue to find comfort in who God is and not in who people have made Him. I love the wording of this version..."even though I walk through the darkest valley"...not just time of death but anytime life happens, He journey's with us! It doesn't mean it is easy...in fact it rarely is. But, in the midst of the struggle, He is there!
I will have more detailed information about the road map, exact details from the report etc tonight in the days recap!
Just wanted to get something out as soon as I knew something!
Grace and Peace!
