Today was a good day. We had another long day of chemo and even as I type, it isn't over.
The first medicine today was the same one he had two days ago. He had a reaction then, but today was smooth sailing. He went right through it without the 1st side effect. That was a 4 hour dose of chemo.
For the 2nd does, he needed to be very hydrated. So, they took 2 hours to give him a certain fluid to get his body ready for the chemo. While we waited, we went for a walk to our favorite place...the 3rd floor patio. Uncle Seth flew in yesterday for an extended stay and so he went with us. It was his 1st trip to the patio.
Today, it was rather chilly in PHX. So, when we got out there, the wind was blowing and we were cold. Here we are working on a dino lego set outside.
Because it was so cold, we finished our dinosaur inside the lobby on the 3rd floor.
After we went in, we Skyped Uncle Mark, Aunt Allyson, Grammy and Pop Pop. Technology is amazing, because Caleb played a game of Battleship with Uncle Mark over Skype. It was close, but Uncle Mark won! I think there is a rematch scheduled for next week sometime! Here are some pictures of that game!
After the game, Caleb was ready for his 2nd treatment today. They gave him his pre-chemo meds to help keep side effects to a minimum and then gave him his 2nd treatment. While the 1st med took 4 hours to give him, the nurse literally pushed in the chemo herself and did it rather quickly. It was not a big dose and so it took probably 30 seconds to get it all in. Although small, it is a very powerful medicine.
When I left, they had just started his 3rd med today. It was going to take about 3 hours to run.
Today was all about keeping Caleb busy. While he was getting chemo, he couldn't leave the room because they needed to continue to check on him and make sure he was doing ok. That is not an easy task. If you know Caleb, his mind is always going 100 mph. So, to keep him focused on something for an extended period of time is a big job! Uncle Seth was great today and we had a lot of fun!
I am home tonight with Cully and will take him to church in the morning. I am looking forward to being with our church family. They are amazing people and I can't say enough about how much they have done for us. Between them and Caleb's school, we have wanted for nothing and actually have been the recipients of many amazing things. Thanks to all those who were able to help on the house today. I know so many more wanted too but were not able to make it. The house looks and smells great! A few more things need to be put away, but Tera said it was an amazing day of work and help. We could not have done it without you!
God is big! Our faith is growing more and more each day! Who knows where we will end up, but I am sure of one thing...He is with us and His presence is already there waiting on us to arrive!
Looking forward to a good day tomorrow!
Grace and Peace!
