Out of Procedure

Caleb is out and in recovery room. No results yet, but the anesthesiologist said that the pictures looked better than last weeks. He made sure we knew he wasn't a radiologist, but from his perspective it was good. He was really good and nice. He was from South Africa and made us laugh. We ask everyone who is going to do something to Caleb if they are the best and how many times they have done whatever it is they are going to do. He looked at us with a smile on his face and said, "No, this is my very first time!" We laughed and he assured us that he had done it many times before.

(A little time has passed before I could write the rest)

We are back in the room now and he has snapped out of his sleep a lot faster this time than last. The doctor came in and checked him and he says he sounds and looks good. He said he will be back when he knows the results.

Caleb is playing some X-box and eating, which is crazy that he already has an appetite! He is eating some mac and cheese with some fried cheese sticks (with ranch on the side of course).

The nurse came in and drew some blood. They are checking his blood type because they are going to give him a transfusion this afternoon. Now, for us this is really weird and kind of scary to think about. However, the nurse said that this is a very normal thing, especially on this floor. She said, "It is kind of like Halloween here...we give it out like candy!" So often when we think transfusion we think worst case and close to death. We have been assured and reassured that this isn't the case. They said it is going to actually make him feel better than he does right now.

Our new nurse's name is Melonie and she seems awesome! God has given us another informed and great nurse! We are so blessed!

So, his procedure went well and he is almost back to normal. He still has a little hang over from the sleep medicine, but all in all things are good. Just waiting to hear results!

We will keep you posted!

Grace and Peace!

  3. Glad the procedure went well. My patients always say that they feel like a new person after they get a transfusion. It makes them feel a lot better.... I can usually tell just by looking at them! Hope to hear good news back from the tests!
