Doing better

Caleb is doing better right now. He has had so many visitors over the past couple of days, plus his little body has been through so much, that I think he needed a day to just chill and process. We read a book together this afternoon called "Ocology Stupology" and had a really good conversation after we got done reading it. The book is basically written from a child's perspective about how oncology is not fun and he just wants to go home. I think it was really good for Caleb to hear that he doesn't have to be happy. A couple of the things in the book allowed him to see that he is not the only person going through what he is going through. We stopped throughout and had some conversation about things that are going to happen. In the end, the boy gets to go home and I told him the same will be true for him! After a few tears together, we made a step in a direction of processing our new life.

So, after a day of not as many visitors and being able to process his situation a bit, he seems to be in a better place. We walked 5 short laps (we have a short and long track around the 7th floor) which was awesome! Everyone was encouraging him, including the doctor. We talked the entire time about how we might give back to children who are dealing with cancer. He has some amazing ideas and we will be asking for all of you to get involved on some level when he is cancer free! Caleb is such an amazing young man...I may have said it already but I truly honored to be his dad!

I will give a recap later tonight of our day. We have gotten a lot of news that I will share.

Grace and Peace!
