We have Diagnosis and Treatment

So, we have some answers. We still do not know all of them but enough to get started on the journey towards being cancer free.

Caleb has a b-cell lymphoma called Burkitt's Lymphoma. It has a huge success rate as far as curing it. The Drs. are amazingly optimistic.

The information we do not know is what stage it is in and exactly where it is. The test have been run but those results are not back yet. We should know that information tomorrow sometime.

Treatment: So, here is what we know. They are going to start treatment tonight. The 1st week of treatment is the same no matter where the cancer is or no matter what stage it is in. So, chemo starts tonight. We will have a week of treatment in the hospital. Then, we will rescan again and see where we are. After that, we are looking at another week of treatment in the hospital and then probably heading home.

They are thinking that it will be a 6 cycle treatment plan that will last for 6 months. After that, we are believing that cancer will no longer be a part of Caleb's life!

So, that is where we are. Our hope is big, not in doctors but in God! Thanks for all support and prayers. I will give daily updates so that those who are interested will be able to stay informed. I think I may also use this as a journal of some sorts. This is very therapeutic in nature for me, so I may post things that I am thinking through and thoughts that go through my mind. Feel free to reply. I love reading through the replies.

We are so overwhelmed with the support we have received from people here and literally around the world!

I will keep you posted.

Grace and Peace

  1. So glad to hear that the doctors are optimistic and that there is such a high success rate for treatment! We'll keep praying for you guys and for the doctors as they decide what treatment needs to be done.

  2. Great news! As you know I work with cancer patients everyday and as it happens a co-worker of mine has been in your shoes. Her son had the exact same diagnosis when he was a child, along with the abdominal tumor and all. He is now in his 20s and has been happy and healthy ever since. Y'all will continuously be in our thoughts and prayers. We also have our sunday school class praying for y'all. Miss you guys.

  8. Glad you have some answers. Will be praying and asking friends to pray for complete healing and that God will make himself very real to your family in the coming months & that God will give you wisdom to be exactly what Caleb needs.

  9. I'm so glad that you now have a name for this monster. Sometimes it's the lack of knowledge that makes these situations more difficult. Just wanted you to know that you and your little family have been in my prayers for sometime and that the 1,000 plus readers of my blog each day have been asked to pray for Caleb as well. I was amazed at the response, most of them being private emails in lieu of blog comments. Everyone is hopeful and sending their prayers your way, some of my closest bloggy friends being from Switzerland, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, England, Czech Republic and Morocco.

Also, I got together some fabric from my stash to make little man a quilt today. Nancy Kime is piecing it and we are hoping to get it to him sometime this weekend.

Thank you for continuing to share via this journal of yours. It helps people like me know specifically how to pray for you and your family.
