Recap of Today.

Well, our worst nightmare became our reality. The preliminary results came in and Caleb has cancer. More on that later.

So the day started off with waking up, taking a shower and getting ready for the biopsy to be done on Caleb. They really wanted to get results today, so they bumped his procedure up 1 hour. After we took him downstairs, got him in surgery room and asleep, we waited. While we were waiting, we saw the power of the church. I must say, our church is amazing! We would not have made it through today without them! We turned a waiting room into a prayer room. I have never felt more embraced and surrounded by love and support like this morning. Also, knowing that prayers were being lifted from Chattanooga, TN to Naples, FL, from Bedford, IN to Flint, MI, from Japan to Ohio, It was amazing! God's people around the world were united and all for my little man, Caleb. It was incredibly humbling to think about!

They were supposed to do a biopsy and pick line, a different form of IV. At the last minute they told us they were not going to be doing the pick line any more. This raised serious concerns in the mind of mom and dad. So, they did the biopsy, got exactly what they needed and discovered what has been happening in Caleb's body. Preliminary results say it is a type of lymphoma. I say preliminary because we do not know for sure exactly what type he has, what stage it is in, or if it is in one place or several places throughout his body.

So...........tomorrow morning/afternoon, we go for more extensive tests that will tell us everything we need to know. He is having a bone marrow test, having his port put in, a full body ct scan, and a pet scan. It is supposed to take somewhere close to 4 hours to get it all done. He will be asleep for the entire thing. They are scheduled to start at 10 AM and potentially be done at 2 PM.

So, tomorrow is a huge day for everyone, but especially for Caleb. He knows he has cancer...we talked with him today with staff here from hospital. He knows it is going to be a process. He knows just about everything that we know and is somehow processing it all amazingly. Drs are amazed at his questions. I am amazed at his strength and bravery. He is teaching me new things almost every hour.

So, thank you so much for your prayers. However, please do not stop. Our journey is just beginning. Once again, we are so humbled by the support we have gotten from our blood family and our church family. Crossroads Nazarene Church is amazing and I am honored to serve God by serving the people of this great community. Also, Hope Christian Academy has been amazing providing food and support as well. My family has benefitted from this school in more ways than just an education for my son.

Drs are very optimistic about Caleb's path to recovery. Pray for our drs as they move forward with complete diagnosis and treatment. Pastor Dave prayed specifically for our dr after we were done meeting with her. Not sure what she thought, but I don't really care. She is covered in prayer and she knows it! Our dr and nurse both told us that a big part of healing process is spiritual and faith journey. They said Caleb will do better if he is surrounded by people who are always encouraging him and praying for him.

So, that is where we are....not sure what tomorrow holds much less what next week looks like but sure of Who journeys with us. Not sure what may happen in the midst of everything but sure that God's presence will already be there when we arrive. Not sure how we will fare through the entire thing, but know that we are surrounded by family and a community of faith that will not let us face it alone.

Thanks to all who have texted and called today! Please do not take offense if we have not returned all of them. We are so overwhelmed and know that we have read each one.

Tomorrow is a new day! We will keep you posted.

  3. I just heard about this Jeremy and Tara, and you know that I and my ladies in the Quilt group are with you 100% and will stand by you in prayer through this process until its successful conclusion!! Is there anything special that Caleb would like on his quilt? Any special animal, design, or anything like that? We make really cool ones for kids, things that not only remind them that God loves them, but also are just plain fun!

  7. Great Falls, MT is praying too! We're friends of Charis from school. "And my God will supply all your needs, according to His riches in glory." Phil 4:19. So thankful that His supply depends on His riches and not our strength. Praying Psalm 40:1-5 for you. That you would trust the Lord, He would put you on firm ground and that His name would be made great and many would marvel at His name through this time and we're praying for Caleb that God's mercy would be over him every step of the way. Love, the Jollys
